Patching Lodge

Client: Hanover Housing Association and Archadia Architects

Completion Date: November 2013

Design of Soft Landscape

Patching Lodge in Brighton is part of a new generation of housing for older people. It has been developed by Hanover Housing Association in partnership with Brighton & Hove City Council.

In 2009 Fiona was appointed to work with architects Archadia to produce a soft landscape scheme for the external garden spaces. The commission also involved assisting with the delivery of the Percent for Art element of the project including the design and production of ornamental railings and gates along the site boundary.

The planting scheme has been designed to provide visual and sensory interest for residents and privacy from the the busy main road, whilst also contributing to the wider public realm. Although the buiding was completed in 2010 the external works were not implemented until November 2013.
